About the NCLC -
THE IMAGE OF CREDIBILITY BEGINS WITH PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS TM
The National Council on Laser Certification (NCLC) was established in 2000 as a credentialing board of the nonprofit Professional Medical Education Association (PME), which itself was formed in 1978 and is primarily involved with medical laser training of all types in every medical/surgical specialty (See www.LaserTraining.org).

The NCLC was originally named the NCLE (National Council on Laser Excellence) and the name changed in 2011 to the NCLC. The NCLC is affiliated with Professional Medical Education Association as it's parent organization, but operates at "arms-length" from the training of Professional Medical Education. NCLC Certifications are available to all who qualify, and are not restricted in any way to those who have taken training from PME. Applicants may qualify for exams through any training course.

The policy of the NCLC is to work cooperatively with States and other regulatory agencies to provide verification of credentials in the various laser areas where the NCLC offers Certifications, and to cooperate with these agencies to transmit information regarding the Certification status of it's members.

NCLC Certifications elsewhere are considered a respected professional credential, and various States in the U.S., and countries internationally are moving toward requirements for such Certifications.
